FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Evolution of the global mineral exploration business session to open PDAC 2011
TORONTO (February 7, 2011) – Neomet Technologies is proud to be a part of the world’s largest mining & technology convention being held in Toronto, Canada beginning March 06th -09th. The Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada has become the single most prestigious event for the mining industry executives and technologists to gather, exchange latest developments in the industry, network and transact business.
The mineral exploration business is changing as global metal reserves decline and as the industry recognizes the need for more greenfields exploration to take place outside traditional mining regions. The challenges to be overcome by modern mineral exploration will be up for debate by a panel of global mining leaders between March 6-9, when the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada‟s 2011 convention opens in Toronto.
“Exploration is where mining starts,” said Tony Andrews, executive director of the PDAC. “But it‟s going through a dramatic evolution now as it adapts to changes that are increasing the cost and complexity of the exploration business without always improving the results. Following the popularity of a similar discussion last year we‟re bringing back the exploration business panel with new themes and speakers. It will be chance to hear different opinions about how our industry will find the new deposits of metals and minerals the world needs as the „age of commodities‟ advances.”
The panel discussion called Evolving business exploration models in the 21st century will be an opportunity for leaders in the exploration industry to bring forward some of the most pressing issues that major international mining and exploration companies face when deposits are often harder to find and more expensive to mine.
The annual PDAC convention brings together the world‟s mining industry and offers a variety of technical sessions designed to meet the needs of mineral exploration whether carried out by the exploration departments of major miners or by the junior exploration companies for which Canada is known internationally.
